Although she has a hard time admitting it, comedian Kim Coles is somewhat of a Renaissance woman, having succeeded not only in stand-up comedy but also in theater, writing a self-help book and starring in the first season of the groundbreaking In Living Color. Now she plays Mercy P. Jones on TBS’ hit show 10 Items or Less. Lucky for us, we caught up with her recently while she was in New York. The proof is on our latest installment of A Tight Five. Check it out.

A Tight Five is a co-production between Punchline Magazine and RooftopComedy and is filmed at Comix in New York City. To watch more episodes, visit

Great interview. I am a big fan of Kim. I remember seeing bits of standup before she landed on In Living Color, and she was always hilarious. And I think it speaks volumes about the show that so many folks from that cast, have stayed in the spotlight for such a long time.
