You are probably well aware that Friday marks Jay Leno’s last appearance as the host of The Tonight Show, a job he’s done for the past 17 years. He’s moving on to hosting his own prime-time chat show in the fall and in the process handing over the Tonight Show to Conan O’Brien.
As we were scouring the regional Alabama news sites (as we do every day), we came upon this wee story about two local comedians who have been writing jokes for Leno’s show the past half decade. We kind of always picture writers of late-night talk shows sitting in swank offices, writing jokes, bouncing ideas off one another and all that fun stuff to cobble together a coherent night of comedy. And all that probably happens. But dudes at home in Alabama — maybe even in their PJs — are also writing things Leno is saying; and, they’re getting paid for it. And it looks like they’re going to stay on Leno’s payroll. Check out the video below.
