Arlen SpecterContinuing to further his reputation as an enigma wrapped in a mystery, Senator Arlen Specter (D-PA) pulled out some unexpected comedy chops while hosting a benefit show at the Pittsburgh Improv on Thursday.

The senator, who made headlines earlier this year when he abruptly switched the lettering on his political affiliation from ‘R’ to ‘D’, poked fun at the state of his marital relations, and singled out a few Washington insiders for scrutiny.

Despite his staunchy reputation, this was not the first time Specter has taken on the world of stand-up. In 2007, the senator received second prize at a stand-up contest for Washington celebrities, according to the Associated Press story.
