Marlon WayansComedian Marlon Wayans is in discussions to portray Richard Pryor in an upcoming biopic about the legendary stand-up. Eddie Murphy, who was previously linked to the project, has reportedly dropped out.

News outlets have confirmed that Wayans wowed director Bill Condon with a thirteen-minute screentest, during which he “transforms into Pryor”. Though Wayans is best-known for his comedic roles in films like Scary Movie and White Chicks, he did earn critical praise for his dramatic performance in Requiem for a Dream.

The film, entitled Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said?, will be produced by Pryor’s widow Jennifer Lee Pryor and Chris Rock. It is set to begin filming next spring.
