Comedy Central's 'Stand-up Month' right around the corner

Stand-up Month is back in January as Comedy Central focuses on stand-up comedy all next month. Along with world premiers of specials every weekend from Chris Rock, Aziz Ansari, Artie Lange, Arj Barker, and Larry the Cable Guy, we will also see the return of the Stand-Up Showdown. For those not aware, the  Stand-up Showdown gives fans the chance to vote for their favorite comedians over several weeks after which, Comedy Central will replay the top 20 on Sunday, January 31 as part of an all day stand-up marathon.

This year, Comedy Central has forgone the slightly awkward Myspace Vote Now buttons and have instead integrated a  Facebook Connect feature. A beta version of the site is running with a possibly mock vote count to test it out. A source has confirmed for me that, unlike previous years, online voters will be able to vote as often as once per minute as opposed to the previous once per day limit. Mobile voting remains limitless however standard texting rates still apply. Official voting opens up late tomorrow morning.

Chase Roper is a brilliantly subtle and bitingly sarcastic writer/ humorist from very south of Seattle, WA. While it might not be relevant to his comedy writing career, Chase feels it is important to mention that he is also an expert on the subject of zombies and martial arts movies. Also, 'bitingly' might not be a real word.
