Ever watch a late night Comedy Central video of some insipid jackass and think, “Fuck, I’ve got more comedic talent in one piece of loose finger skin than this dude – and he’s on TV!” Well, Rooftop Comedy has just the thing to blast those pipe dreams out of said pipe and onto the stand-up comedy stage.
Right now, Rooftop is calling for entries to its 2010 Talent Institute: a four-week intensive crash course in all things comedy that allows participants to learn, in massive detail, about strengthening their performance style, developing their writing chops, video taking, and production and self-promotion. Those selected for this year’s Talent Institute will also receive residence in the San Francisco (including airfare, housing, and a stipend); face time with industry bigwigs in San Francisco and Los Angeles; performance opportunities in the Bay Area comedy circuit; and hands-on mentoring from professional comedians.
Of course, this all sounds pretty groovy, but only six contestants will be chosen, so don’t delay in applying! Application deadline is May 14; to apply, please visit rooftopcomedy.com/talentinstitute. Good luck, and may the best funny-man (or woman!) come out on top!
