Eddie MurphyRecently, Eddie Murphy has been hinting toward his return to stand-up comedy. The star himself has said, “Within the last six months or so, I started getting an itch to do it again. I started writing stuff… I was like, ‘I could go and do 15, 20 minutes right now. Maybe in a couple of months I’ll start working out again.”

The question is this: should we believe him? Murphy stated almost two years ago that he wanted to get back into stand-up, and even went as far as hinting at retirement from Hollywood. He had told Extra, “Thirty years and I have close to 50 movies and it’s like, ‘Why am I in the movies? I’ve done that part now. I’ll go back to the stage and do stand-up.’”

So is he returning or is it more of a publicity stunt? It seems we won’t know for sure for another year from now. “It’s gonna take at least a year to get the rust off; 20 years of rust,” Murphy says.

Check out the clip below of Eddie chatting with Ellen DeGeneres about his possible return to stand-up comedy.

Pfft.. After all the controversies Eddie Murphy has been through these past couple of years, I don’t find him an effective comedienne anymore. There actors way better when it comes to comedy. Take the tandem of Russell Brand and Jonah Hill, for one. They are super hilarious in Get Him to the Greek. I have seen the screening, and I was laughing my guts out! Catch the movie on June 4!

@Mikee: Yep, Diddy is with the film. He plays the demanding record company executive. Diddy’s a natural at comedy I say.
