What’s the best way to get noticed by the Emmy nomination committee? If you answered “strip,” you’re correct. And you also may be Kathy Griffin. Today, the Hollywood Reporter is running a “For Your Consideration” ad featuring a seductive Griffin in nothing but her lingerie. Griffin asks that she is nominated for her reality show My Life on the D-List, her 2009 stand-up special Balls of Steel, and a guest role on Law and Order: SVU.
No stranger to the Emmy scene, Griffin won the Emmy for Outstanding Reality Program for D-List in 2007 and 2008. If the show is nominated again, it would be its fifth consecutive Emmy nod. Balls of Steel would be her second nomination in the Outstanding Musical, Comedy, or Variety Special category; she was nominated for her 2008 stand up special She’ll Cut a Bitch. This year’s potential nomination for “Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series” on SVU is for her role in one episode, where she plays a lesbian rights activist.
Lastly, Griffin jokingly suggests a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Soon to be Released YouTube Sex Video, which is sure to be a tough category with competitors like Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian and just recently Playboy model Kendra Wilkinson. We’ll see if her racy efforts paid off on July 8, when comedian Joel McHale and Sofia Vergara announce the nominations. The Emmy ceremony will be aired live on NBC Aug. 29; Jimmy Fallon will perform hosting duties.
