The first annual Friars Club Improv and Sketch Competition (FrISC) recently announced the 10 finalists and four alternates slated to perform and compete later this month. The competition is designed to scout the newest and best talent in improv and sketch and help them advance their careers.
The comedy groups will perform in front of a panel of Friars judges and comedians, who will select winners from both categories. Whoever wins will get $10,000 toward making a short film to debut at the Friars Club Comedy Film Festival in September.
The competition goes down at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York on June 25 and 26. Groups from New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Boston will fight (possibly to the death, as anything could happen on stage at Upright Citizens Brigade) for the opportunity to get their videos financed.
To see if your favorite improv and sketch groups made it into the finals and learn about getting tickets, check out the official FrISC website. And for more information and updates on the competition, make sure you take a look at their Facebook page.
Stay tuned for more information from Punchline Magazine about this event, as we’ll be there all weekend to cover the competition! And after the jump, check out the list of all the finalists.
