For years, comedian and proud, progressive activist Janeane Garofalo has been criticized by Right wing pundits who take pride in calling her just another product of Hollywood’s misdirected liberal elite. But if Garofalo is one thing, it’s honest. Sure, she was an outspoken opponent of the Bush administration. And yes, before the last presidential election, she told Punchline Magazine she’d be fine with replacing Bush with either Obama or Hillary Clinton. She wasn’t picky; she just wanted Bush out.
But now that Obama’s taken the reigns, she’s not blindly nodding her head in agreement. In a new interview with Punchline Magazine‘s Emma Kat Richardson, the veteran comedian, premiering her new comedy special, If You Will on June 26 on Epix, addresses the way the current president has handled the BP oil spill. Spoiler: she gives him a failing grade.
I also am disgusted that the Obama administration kept all the corrupt policies of the Bush administration in place, and helped feed into this tragedy. I don’t even understand it – I don’t understand how the Obama administration kept the same people in the management service in place, and kept ignoring the safety warnings.
They had Ken Salazar as the Secretary of the Interior, who’s corrupt. It just makes no sense. I have no idea why the Obama administration has been as heartbreakingly disappointing as it has. So yeah, I’m just disgusted. Other than that, I don’t know what else to say. I’m sure this type of thing will continue to go on and on and on.
