Saudi ArabiaWhen we go to a comedy show, we’ve come to expect the performer to swear, be raunchy and say things you would never dream of repeating. Now how about doing comedy in Saudi Arabia where many forms of public entertainment are banned, and where sometimes people are prohibited from socializing in public?

Comedians have always had ballsy commentary on society, but doing it in a country where you can get arrested for performing takes real balls. Believe it or not, comedians are performing in Saudi Arabia, but with strict precautions. The shows are held at secret locations across the country away from where they could be spotted by the religious police.

Check out BBC’s Ben Thompson’s great video report on this underground comedy scene.
