Carnival cruise ships just got a little bit funnier (on purpose).
The company just announced Punchliner Comedy Clubs, a series of on-ship comedy venues to be incorporated into a number of their vessels this year. Comedians will perform 35 minute shows located on the boat’s aft lounges; Carnival claims they’ll boast big name headliners multiple nights a week of each voyage.
“Laughter is the most public, most infectious expression of fun, so we’re excited to provide our guests with an expanded offering in comedy with our new Punchliner Comedy Clubs,” said Gerry Cahill, Carnival’s president. “Given that laughter has been shown to have a positive effect on mood, stress reduction and overall happiness, our new clubs and performance line-up will only further enhance the spirited fun of a Carnival vacation.”
Carnival decided to add more comedy to their roster after the success of a comedy club aboard is Carnival Dream ship last year. And you may remember that earlier this year, it was announced that Lewis Black would host a week-long comedy cruise for Royal Caribbean.
Punchliner will be featured this year on 22 aptly titled “fun ships.” For more info, visit Carnival’s website.
