Trial By Laughter contest promises winning comedian record deal, cash, more

Morty's Comedy JointAttention, comedians and those of you who know comedians: Morty’s Comedy Joint, in Indianapolis, IN and cable provider Comcast have teamed up produce the stand-up comedy contest Trial By Laughter.

In order to enter, you must submit a three to seven minute YouTube video of one of your stand-up sets. Out of all the submissions, 36 comics will be chosen to perform in the first round of competition; 12 comics make the semi finals and four enter to finals; from that group, one his crowned the winner.

According to the contest’s official site, the winner scores “$1,000 in cash, a 45-minute $40,000 three-camera DVD shoot, an album deal, and a headlining week at Morty’s.”

Not too shabby.

There are also prizes for the runner-up and the 36 originally selected comics, plus a lot more incentives. All the info you’ll need is here.

Submission deadline is Sept. 1; selections will be made on or before Oct. 1.
