Portion of Margaret Cho tour proceeds will go to charity

small_MargaretCho_VER3_COLHere at the old Punchline Magazine printing press, we’ve been doing a lot of reporting (read: drooling over) on Margaret Cho and her forthcoming musical comedy tour; undertaken, naturally, in support of her forthcoming musical comedy album, Cho Dependent.

The album springs forth on Aug. 24 and the tour kicks off on the 26 in Portland, but what’s the latest update to make us go gaga* over Cho?

Why, the recent announcement that a portion of the Cho Dependent‘s tour proceeds will be forked over to charity, of course!

(*Note: We could’ve gone with a horrendously overused Lady Gaga reference/pun here, but chose not to. Be happy.)

So here’s the lowdown: after spending some time down on the Gulf coast in Mississippi recently, Our Lady Margaret was moved to compassion for the suffering marine life, afflicted by an unprecedented amount of black stuff in the water, and decided to name the Institute for Marine Mammal Studies as beneficiary to the sales of Cho Dependent VIP tickets.

Thanks to a boost from Live Nation and Frontgate Tickets, 10 VIP ticket packages will be made available to members of Cho’s fan club for each city stop on the tour – a deal which includes “show tickets, an autographed DVD and a backstage meet and greet and photo opportunity with Margaret at the show,” saith an official press release.

And with the VIP tickets running about $55 more than regular show tickets, you can bet that those seals down in the Gulf will really have something to clap about now.

As always, check out the Lady Cho’s official website for more deets and ticket sales.
