Looks like another buzzed-about comedian is about to make the jump to the small screen. Hollywood Reporter reported that Kate Micucci of the hilarious musical comedy duo, Garfunkel & Oates has been cast in Raising Hope, a new sitcom on Fox.
“Micucci originally landed the role of the main character’s cousin, Michelle,” said The Reporter. “…but after shooting the pilot, the character was cut. Convinced that she’d be good fit for the show, show creator Greg Garcia constructed a new character for her to play: Shelly, the owner of a baby and doggy day care center. Garcia even scripted in Micucci’s real-life ukulele-playing talent.”
The show stars Lucas Neff as a slacker raising an infant daughter. It premieres Tuesday, September 21. Click here for more info on Garfunkel & Oates, who earlier this summer had been included in Variety‘s annual “10 Comics to Watch” list.
We think this is what finally landed her the sitcom gig.
