Robert Schimmel, iconic stand-up comedian, died Friday at a Phoenix hospital, where he was being treated for injuries suffered in an Aug. 26 car accident. He was 60. According the the New York Times, the death was confirmed by his manager, Lee Kernis of Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
As previously posted, Schimmel’s daughter, 19 was driving the car, with the comedian in the passenger seat and his 11-year-old son in the back. “Sources tell us the daughter swerved to avoid an accident in her lane and the car rolled over on to the side of the freeway,” TMZ reported.
