This weekend, we got a small taste of new Diablo Cody and Jason Reitman project, Young Adult. Charlize Theron has been cast as the lead and will star alongside Patton Oswalt and Patrick Wilson. Filming is set to begin within the next month.
The movie itself, says the Hollywood Reporter, will revolve around Theron’s character, a divorced young adult fiction author in her thirties, who returns to her Minnesota home to pursue her ex-boyfriend (Wilson), now married and a proud new father. Oswalt steps in the picture as a “crippled, self-loathing man” with a love interest in Theron when they were in high school together. The plot sounds promising—especially with the addition of Oswalt, who seems perfect for the role.
Prior to Young Adult, Reitman also directed Cody’s first film, the award-winning Juno, starring Ellen Page and Michael Cera. Oswalt has also worked with Cody before, appearing in her Showtime series, United States of Tara.
