Comedy nerds across the country are already a bit familiar with comedian Doug Benson’s ongoing, years-long project dubbed The Benson Interruption. In short, it’s a live show hosted by the comedian, wherein comedian friends perform stand-up but then Benson — you guessed it — interrupts their sets. Think of it as controlled heckling, artfully being a dick, or something like that.

Well, this little show with a dedicated cult following was enough for the suits at Comedy Central to produce the thing for television. The first night of taping went down in LA on Monday and included guest Adam Carolla. “It’s not heckling, it’s helping,” Benson says about his show. “There’s a major difference. Well, just a few letters, but you know what I mean. All of the comics on the show are friends of mine. I’m not interrupting strangers. They are well aware of what they are getting into when they agree to do the show. I hope.”

To give you a wee taste of the show, we wanted to roll out these great photos from the taping two days ago.
