Rob RiggleStand-up favorite and former Daily Show correspondent, Rob Riggle is in development with CBS for a new half-hour comedy. According to Deadline, this marks the third consecutive holding deal between Riggle and CBS. Why all the fuss over this Marine Corps Captain turned funny man? From a subjective point of view, perhaps it’s because he’s totally awesome.

Robert Smigel, the Saturday Night Live veteran responsible for bringing us the likes of TV Funhouse, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog and 217 episodes of Late Night with Conan O’Brien, is the writer and co-producer behind this new yet-to-be-named series. The two Robs last crossed paths professionally during Riggle’s single season on SNL bewteen 2004-05. Riggle also just wrapped Tom Hanks’ Larry Crowne while Smigel will be making his feature writing debut with the upcoming movie Jack and Jill starring another SNL alum, Adam Sandler.
