The Village Voice just announced that the host of their first annual Web Awards will be none other than smooth-voiced comedy god, Todd Barry. Now, if you’re one of the Todd’s 73,597 Twitter followers, you know that he expressed interest in participating in this award show earlier this month – as a nominee…
The hosting gig may be an olive branch (or just a sound decision), but there’s no getting around the fact that it’s not quite what the Flight Of The Conchords veteran had in mind.
“I campaigned hard to win one of these awards,” Barry told Punchline Magazine today. “Now I’m hosting with the knowledge that I’m not receiving one. So I will have to take the anger out on the winners.”
For those in the NYC area who’d like to witness Barry’s role as a vengeful master of ceremonies, go to Santos Party House on 96 Lafayette Street on Dec. 7 at 7 p.m.
