Ricky GervaisWanna see the world without the incalculable airfare or the unscheduled proctological exams by TSA agents? Then set your arse down on your davenport and tune in to the Science Channel in January to watch An Idiot Abroad, a documentary series from Brit wit Ricky Gervais.

The weekly eight-part series, scheduled to begin on Jan. 21, follows the aforementioned “idiot,” Karl Pilkington (Gervais’ willing stooge on this series and HBO’s The Ricky Gervais Show) to famous sites around the globe.

The itinerary includes Chichen Itza in Mexico, Christ the Redeemer in Brazil, the Giza Pyramid Complex in Egypt, the Great Wall of China, Machu Picchu in Peru, Petra in Jordan and the Taj Mahal in India. Gervais and Stephen Merchant monitor safely from London while Pilkington has all the “fun.”
