When I think of the Game Show Network (GSN), a few things come to mind: Gene Rayburn’s incredibly trendy suits on the Match Game, Richard Dawson requesting kisses on the cheek from every female contestant on Family Feud and a very young Bob Barker. It generally hasn’t been a go-to channel if I want to laugh – at least, if I want to laugh with a TV show, rather than at it.
But that might change soon: GSN is adding some shows to their lineup that might add some real laughs. First of all, GSN is bringing back Lingo, a team-based word game, which will be hosted by comedian Bill Engvall, most famous for his performance in Blue Collar Comedy Tour.
In addition, Drew Carey has announced the cast for a new improv comedy show, premiering on the network on March 28. Several Whose Line Is It Anyway? alumni will appear on the show, including Ryan Stiles, Brad Sherwood, Colin Mochrie, Greg Proops, and Chip Esten.
Also gracing the cast is Kathy Kinney, known as Mimi on The Drew Carey Show. I was always a fan of Whose Line, so I’m looking forward to seeing what this new venture is all about. Bonus points if any of the players dress like Gene Rayburn.
