One of my favorite web entities these days is Kickstarter, an organization that facilitates crowd-sourced fundraising for projects of any and all varieties. That’s no exaggeration: users can help support films, the invention of edible and vegan cups, even a grilled cheese food truck.
Grilled cheese aside, another recent Kickstarter project melds community service, stand-up comedy, and candid discussion of tough personal issues. Three comedians who have seen more than their fair share of struggle – Ian Harvie, Felon O’Reilly, and Amy Dresner – are embarking on a stand-up comedy tour titled We Are Not Saints to share their rough experiences and, should sufficient funds be raised, create a documentary and concert film about their journey. Their hope is not simply to entertain, but to help others who have had similarly difficult lives. Even better, half of the proceeds from every show will go towards sobriety service organizations.
You have until March 21 to help these guys finance their tour and filmmaking venture. Go here to do that. Check out the video below for more info.
