Charlie Callas, a stand-up comedian who worked in television, film, and onstage for 50 years, passed away Thursday in Las Vegas at age 86. He had an enviably active career in show biz: Callas regularly appeared on variety shows in the 1960s and made over fifty appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, in addition to touring with Frank Sinatra and playing small roles in several of Mel Brooks’ films.
To see Callas at his best, check out this bit – so high energy it’s exhausting just to watch.

When not reading or writing in any official capacity, she spends her time playing the drums, watching crappy TV, and eating copious amounts of tacos and barbecue.
