ricky gervaisBefore Ricky Gervais was making waves with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, he was fronting a 80s British New Wave group, Salon recently pointed out. Seriously.

The group, called Seona Dancing, enjoyed some modest success across the pond before breaking up in 1984.

But, thanks to the wonders of YouTube, we can resurrect the madness and see Gervais channeling David Bowie before he became David Brent. So do yourself a favor and check out their No. 79 single and music video, called “Bitter Heart.”

And, in this video, see Gervais called out on his past on a British talk show. Embarrassing!
