Stephen Merchant

You might know the work more than the man, but all that’s about to change. Stephen Merchant, also known as the co-creator of The Office, Extras, and a frequent collaborator with Ricky Gervais and Karl Pilkington, is embarking on his first ever stand-up comedy tour called “Stephen Merchant Live, Hello Ladies.” Though most of his dates are overseas, he is making one stop in the US, at New York’s Town Hall, Dec. 20, 2011. And tickets are on sale tomorrow!

Despite the fact that this is his first stand-up tour, he’s not a rookie to the craft. Says Merchant, “Most people don’t realize that I was a stand-up comedian before I met Ricky Gervais and his coat-tails. Life can be lonely as a TV writer so this tour is a great opportunity for me to get out there and meet my fans. And make at least one of them my wife.”

Best of luck on that mission, Merchant!
