I’ve heard of authors offering incentives for pre-ordering and buying their books, but this one’s a new one to me. Demetri Martin is offering quite a prize to one lucky person who pre-orders his new book, This is a Book, by Monday afternoon: a dinner date. He’s buying.
The instructions are fool proof. Pre-order the book, email the receipt to dinnerwithdemetri@gmail.com, and wait.
If you’re lucky enough to win, Demetri will come to your hometown and take you to a mutually agreeable restaurant for dinner. Awkward discussion on various topics is also promised. Our suggestion: previous grievous and graphic injuries.
But that’s not all! All entrants will receive a signed bookplate from Demetri. So it’s basically win-win. And you get a new book by a comedian regardless, so there you go.
