Marc MaronMarc Maron is a lot of things: comedian, podcaster, raconteur.

And now he can add comedy advisor to Charlie Sheen to his resume. It turns out Sheen’s people asked the veteran comic to help Sheen flesh out his upcoming 20-date tour dubbed My Violent Torpedo of Truth / Defeat is Not An Option. If you heard Maron’s most recent episode of WTF with Marc Maron, you know this. But this morning, PopEater made a mainstream entertainment story out of it.

In part, Maron said, “In my mind, I was gonna get him to do what I do. In my mind I was gonna say, ‘Well Charlie, I think you should be honest. I think you should talk about your real feelings. Talk about your pain. Talk about your sadness. Talk about your fears.’”

Maron goes on to explain a little of what the former Two-And-A-Half-Men star has planned for his live show. “There’s a video montage, there’s elements here, there are things he wants to say. There’s a long … I don’t even want to spill it because I know people are gonna go see it, but this guy has a poetic vision. He has clarity in the state he is in. I don’t know what’s gonna happen, but I hung out, listened to what he had to say, threw in a couple ideas about structure, couple transitions, couple taglines, and just watched the process.”
