After making the move from Chicago to New York City in 2007, comedian Kumail Nanjiani’s career has taken off. He’s contributed to and made appearances on Michael and Michael Have Issues (RIP), The Colbert Report and many others– not to mention, Variety named him as one of 10 Comics To Watch in 2009.

Come June 1, we’ll see the Pakistani-born comic in his first regular television role, on the new law drama Franklin & Bash on TNT. Fear not. Judging from the first episodes, it’s not a super serious show, so Kumail is right at home. In fact, the comedian plays Pindar Singh, the right hand man to Jared Franklin (Breckin Meyer) and Peter Bash (Mark-Paul Gosselaar), a lawyer who’s crippled by anxiety and agoraphobia– hilarious, right?

Check out the video below, wherein we see Kumail in action as well as behind the scenes talking about his character.

After the jump, check out out Kumail onstage.
