Political comedies are so timely and relevant these days, especially when campaigns start ramping up and you have people like Donald Trump and Rick Santorum angling for presidential nods (really?). So HBO’s new series Veep couldn’t have come at a better time.
Deadline reports that former Seinfeld actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus will be starring as senator-turned-vice president in the comedy, who discovers that “the job is nothing like she expected and everything everyone ever warned her about.” Scandalous! I sure hope the writers and producers consulted with Joe Biden about real VP life – pretty sure he has a few crazy shenanigans under his belt that could make for amazing comedy series fodder.
Production begins this fall and, appropriately enough, will begin airing in 2012. Watch for it in between presidential debates and dignified and nuanced campaign ads.
