Bo BurnhamIt was only a matter of time before fast-rising comedian and musician Bo Burnham would get a crack at a weekly television gig. The question was always, how and what would this multi-talented performer cook up?

Today, we got our answer.

MTV greenlighted Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous, co-written by and starring the comedian with co-writer Dan Lagana, according to Deadline, who describe the potential series like this: “A kid fresh out of high school…hires a camera crew to film him because he wants to be famous.”

It’s a somewhat gutsy choice for MTV since they are a network who has championed the exact thing Burnham seemingly would be taking the piss out of– reality television. It’ll be interesting to see if MTV is wise enough to give Burnham enough freedom so that the series plays out as funny and smart as Burnham’s original comedy is.

Punchline Magazine named his Words Words Words as one of the 10 must have DVDs of 2010.
