In February, we reported that the Los Angeles-based comedy club, Laugh Factory would open a new location in Chicago, taking over the now abandoned space that once was the Lakeshore Theater. Today, we hear the new space will be ready for business in the summer.
“To be able to bring the Laugh Factory to my ‘hometown’ is a dream come true and I could not be more thrilled,” says Emily Meador, VP of business development of the Laugh Factory, who is a Lake Forest, Ill. native. “Some of the greatest comedians have come out of Chicago and it’s important that we create another platform to continue this trend. ”
Meanwhile, the former owners of Lakeshore have been producing comedy shows in Chicago at a space called Mayne Stage.
