Fast-rising stand-up comedian Whitney Cummings’ pilot, Whitney has been picked up for production at NBC, it was just announced at the network’s upfront presentation tonight.
As we reported back in January, the pilot centered around a young couple trying to balance their lives together. Comedian Chris D’Elia was, at the time, cast to play opposite of Cummings.
Cummings had told Punchline Magazine this about the NBC show: “It’s basically just the opposite of every sitcom. It’s about the darker, more twisted side of relationships and my unromantic take on marriage and relationships. It’s like an edgier, updated version of Mad About You.”
