Last night, Sarah Silverman guest starred on an episode of The Good Wife, a drama that stars Julianna Margulies. When the announcement was made back in March about Silverman’s upcoming appearance, I obviously thought the comedian would be inserted into the storyline for some comic relief. But after watching the episode last night, I know I was wrong.
In the episode, Silverman is the creator of a website that hooks up married people to other married people looking to have an affair– obviously based on the real-life AshleyMadison.com. And here’s the thing: Silverman was brilliant in a very serious role. And this clip below, not only showcases, her acting chops, but it also succinctly explores the beat-to-death discussion of love and how it relates to marriage and fidelity. Huge props to the writers of this episode.
If you’re not familiar with The Good Wife, it’s important to know it centers around Margulies’ character who returns from full-time mother and wife-hood to her original job as a defense attorney– after her husband lands in jail due to a public sex and corruption scandal.
What do you think? We’d love to see Sarah in more dramatic roles! Would you?
