These days, there’s no shortage of comedians using their powers for good, supporting causes from malaria treatment to combating homelessness. And now we can add a comedic take on arts education for underprivileged schools to this long list.
Story Pirates is a collective of actors and improvisers who teach creative writing in schools, and then produce live sketch comedy shows out of stories that kids write – a totally kickass concept, if you ask us.
On top of that, this weekend, the organization is hosting a benefit featuring some familiar hilarious faces, like Jon Stewart, Lou Reed, John Oliver, Ana Gasteyer, Kristen Schaal, Mike Birbiglia, Josh Gad and more. All proceeds will go towards the Story Pirates cause. Here’s what John Oliver has to say about Story Pirates:
