Marc MaronIf you heard the newly-posted episode of WTF with Marc Maron, you already know the comedian struck a deal to shoot a WTF-centered television pilot. The filming went down last week at his home and around his neighborhood. Television comedy icon Ed Asner plays Maron’s father; rising comedic voices like W. Kamau Bell and Sean Patton co-star– not to mention Seth Morris, Matt Jones, Erin Daniels and Angela Trimbur.

The script was written by Maron and Duncan Birmingham.

But, of course we wanted more info on what sounds like an amazing show. We can report that the studio in charge is Fox TV Studios and Apostle (headed by comedian Denis Leary and Jim Serpico) is the production company, and the show is executive produced by Olivia Wingate and Serpico.

“It was exciting for me,” Maron tells Punchline Magazine. “I’m not someone who’s asked to act very often and it was good to do it again.”

He also told us about a surreal moment during production when he walked into his dining room and saw Asner going over his lines. “I was like, ‘Hey do you need coffee? And he says, ‘If you’re making it sure.’ So, that’s how television works now; the guy the entire show is based around now gets coffee for the actors and makes sure everyone is ok. And I’m glad it’s like that.”

The show was shot as  a presentation. It’ll likely be at least a month before we know if the show will proceed to the next step.
