Any seasoned comic will tell you that location matters. It’s a hell of a lot different performing in an amphitheater than a tiny comedy club – different energy, different audience, different sound. Doing a set in a non-comedy locale is, unsurprisingly, really, really difficult.
So why not take that as a challenge? Holy Taco is offering a $250 cash prize and a front page feature on Break.com to the winner of their Standup Anywhere contest, in which comics perform a five-minutes-or-less set “as far removed from a typical comedy venue as possible.”
The only other rule? Don’t be a jerk. So…. I guess that means a funeral home is out. Any other ideas, folks? Oh, and here’s a video if you’re more into watching — and not reading — stuff.
