It’s rare that I’m intrigued by a movie just from reading a short description of its plot. But, I have to say, I’m excited to see comedian Kevin Pollak’s new dark comedy Chez Upshaw come to fruition.
According to Variety, Pollak and actress Illeana Douglas have signed on for the project, centered around a couple who attempt to turn their foundering Bed and Breakfast establishment around by transforming it into a resort, wherein guests can get themselves some good old-fashioned assisted suicide.
“Bruce [Mason] wrote a hilarious, dark comedy that I’m excited as hell to inhabit, and over the moon about having Illeana as my considerably better half,” said Pollak. “On one level, it’s the closest in tone I’ve seen to the British TV classic ‘Faulty Towers,’ but with an original, fresh helping of the macabre and the surprisingly sweet love story of this forever-married couple.”
Model-turned-actress Molly Sims as well as Greg Grunberg and Shane Johnson will also star in Chez Upshaw.
