When I joined Google+ recently, my first thought was, “Crud, another social network account to keep track of.” And it seems like everyone and their mother is creating a new game or a new “get an account here!” site to keep users engaged in weird new ways. The potential for digital saturation isn’t stopping Family Guy, though.
Fox announced that a 3D multiplayer video game based on the series will soon be coming to the Internets near you. Users can head over to familyguyonline.com to create and customize their own character… but that’s all you can do for the time being. Later this year, you’ll be able to wander around a virtual Quahog and interact with your friends and characters from the show.
There’s a lot of potential for virtual badassery here, so keep your eye on the site to see when they’re opening up the space for playing around. And, if you’re planning a trip to Comic-Con, you’ll have a chance to create a character at the Family Guy Online presence there. Even better, Adam West – the voice of Mayor Adam West – will be signing posters this Saturday morning.
