The British are coming. More specifically, British comedians. There’s been a small influx on late night American TV, yet it hardly seems like their accent really makes much of a difference in regards to how they’ve been received in the U.S.A.
While huge names like Eddie Izzard have the type of following to fill up the Hollywood Bowl and casually stop by the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, a couple of the new wave of stand-up comedians from across the pond are making their way in the States. Both Russell Howard and Matt Kirshen have had pretty stellar sets recently on Conan and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon respectively.
It’s interesting to see the jokes and references they use and what they talk about in their sets as if it’s almost a mirror held up to the audiences of America past midnight. Talking about late night eating, homophobia, and referencing Enya seem to all land well amongst a crowd full of yanks. It’s all pretty damn funny. Take a look for yourself at both clips below.
