Martin Lawrence fans may have reason to rejoice: the man of many faces (and genders) may be coming back to network television. “… CBS is deep into negotiations on a deal with Lawrence that would have the actor star in and executive produce his own comedy series for the network,” reports New York Magazine‘s Vulture.

Although Lawrence has been out of the sitcom game since the long-running Martin had its finale in 1997, the comedian has been keeping busy– mostly in movies like Big Momma’s: Like Father Like Son and Death at a Funeral. He’s also kept in touch with his stand-up comedy roots by producing Starz’ 1st Amendment Stand Up from 2005 to 2009.
