For the past few weeks, old-school Roseanne fans have enjoyed seeing one of contemporary comedy’s blue-collar sitcom heroes bare her life in the Lifetime reality series Roseanne’s Nuts. But if all goes according to her plan, we’ll be soon watching Roseanne Barr doing more than minding her Hawaiian Macadamia nut farm. The veteran comedian is now working on a new sitcom Downwardly Mobile, according to The Hollywood Reporter, who reports the show is “designed to mine similar territory to her hit 1990s sitcom Roseanne: a close-knit blue-collar family living in tough economic times.”
Barr is developing the show through 20th Century Fox Television with her boyfriend, Johnny Argent. Steven Greener, who’s working with Roseanne on her reality show, has signed on as an executive producer. The plan, according to The Hollywood Reporter, is for Roseanne to start pitching networks once a showrunner is confirmed.
