Most Laughspin readers have a pretty good idea that life as a comedian can be difficult. Not only is there the prospect of trying to become an original voice in a self-destructive art form, but often times, there is little support or reassurance given that one is following the correct path.
A Stand Up Guy, a short film by written and directed by Sarah Rose Bergman, takes a look at an extreme case where the comedian sacrifices the basic need of shelter or security in order to perform whenever he can get a chance. Based on the life of Jimbo Bazoobi, an Australian comedian who describes himself as a nomad this short shows how far some comedians go for their art. The stars of A Stand Up Guy, Ron Babcock and Lizzy Cooperman, both comedians themselves, are fortunately far from being homeless and have become favorites among the LA comedy scene.
