It’s official. One of Saturday Night Live‘s most successful sons will return — for one night, at least — to host the long-running sketch show’s Dec. 17 episode. Jimmy Fallon, just moments ago, tweeted the following:

“I’ve never forgotten where I came from,” Fallon said in an official statement. “That’s why I’m so incredibly honored to be hosting the Saturday Night Times program December 17th on HGTV.” Get the joke, you guys?

In recent weeks, the folks at SNL have been announcing details of the upcoming season, the show’s 37th. So far we know Alec Baldwin will return to host the premiere on Sept 24; Radiohead will be the musical guest. And Bridesmaids stand-out and star of sitcom Mike & Molly will host SNL‘s Oct. 1 episode; Lady Antebellum will be the musical guests.

In the meantime, let’s check out some Fallon from a Weekend Update with Robert De Niro from 2000. Enjoy!
