Starting Tuesday, the 2.2 million viewers who watch CBS’ daytime chat show, The Talk will find a new co-host occupying one of five seats. Longtime comedian and radio personality Sheryl Underwood will join Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne and guest host Molly Shannon when the show resumes this week. Since Underwood’s half-hour stand-up special aired on Comedy Central in 2003 (see video below), her profile has risen exponentially. She’s arguably best known right now as a regular contributor to the hugely popular Steve Harvey Morning Show, a daily radio show that boasts more than seven million listeners in 64 markets.
Actress Jennifer Love Hewitt and Food Network star Giada DeLaurentiis are scheduled to appear live on the show Tuesday. Leah Remini and Holly Robinson Peete, original co-hosts of The Talk will not be returning. While Remini and Peete have been removed from the show’s official site, neither Underwood nor Shannon, have been added to the site’s cast list. The Talk airs every day at 2 pm ET.
