World famous dessert purveyor Ben & Jerry’s has just combined two of my favorite things– ice cream and the Schweddy Balls sketch from Saturday Night Live.

As you probably know, the sketch starred Alec Baldwin as Pete Schweddy, owner of Seasons Eatings Bakery; he plays a guest on Delicious Dish, a National Public Radio show hosted by characters played by Ana Gasteyer and Molly Shannon. The most memorable line was uttered by Baldwin – “people just can’t get enough of my Schweddy Balls.” And based on Ben & Jerry’s track record, people probably won’t be able to get enough of this limited edition ice cream flavor.

The Schweddy Balls treat is available nationwide and features Fair Trade vanilla ice cream with a hint of rum and is loaded with fudge covered rum balls and milk chocolate malt balls. Deadpanned Baldwin, “It is immortalized here, right now, and it’s an ice cream. Ben & Jerry’s and Schweddy. Two great names in American dessert, together at last.” The company claims the timing of the offering is a result of their desire to celebrate the 37th year of SNL with the premiere airing Sept. 24 on NBC. I can say with moral certainty that even as a secure heterosexual man I can’t wait to get my mouth on some Schweddy Balls. Let’s now relive the magic of the original sketch.
