Damn, this Drew Barrymore, John Krasinski movie looks terrible (Video)

I find it pretty difficult to dislike John Krasinski, he of The Office fame. But after watching this trailer for Big Miracle, out in theaters Feb. 3, 2012, I’m finding it a bit less challenging. Maybe it’s not even him. Maybe it’s Drew Barrymore talking to a whale, letting it know that “everything is going to be ok.” Maybe it’s just that I’m a bitter asshole who cannot find comfort in movies that are supposed to give me comfort. On paper the cast is pretty solid; I’m was especially pleased to see Ted Danson and Andy Daly pop up in the trailer. Anyway, check it out below and tell us what you think.

I was all right through, “Everything’s going to be OK.” But when she suited up to dive into the ice hole – even despite the “horrified” warning of “don’t do it!…” Well, that’s when I spit up a bit.

It’s another “Let’s play dress-up and pretend something cool!” flick for Barrymore. She can’t just play with plastic ponies like other 11 year old girls?

Drew Barrymore is going to bring back the “She’s in the attic!” line, and now folks will be rooting for the whales to die – and maybe still a few miles from the “open ocean.”

Ironic, though, telling THIS story as the arctic ice has withdrawn to historic lows never recorded previously. At the height of its winter, Barrow is now brown and damp, virtually never iced over.
