Tomorrow, Comedy Central will release Lewis Black’s newest stand-up comedy album The Prophet. The album is a time capsule of sorts as its a recording of Black onstage in 1990. That means you’re going to hear a lot of vitriol aimed toward the likes of George Bush, Dan Quayle and the Exxon Valdez. Think of it as a history lesson, strained through the lens of one hyper-angry, wholly hilarious comedian who was about to become one of the biggest acts of our time. The point is, the album is good and you should pay money for it.
So, in honor of Lew’s new album – and because it represents a look back into his career – we thought it might be fun to take our own little trip into Lewis Black’s past. And we’re doing that by featuring our 11 favorite “Back in Black” segments from The Daily Show. We kicked off the list with Black’s most recent dispatch, wherein he opines about Chaz Bono and Dr. Oz. It’s Lew at his best. The rest, as you’ll see, spans Lew’s many years behind The Daily Show desk.
Oh, and I know many of you are going to look at this list an be all like, “Is he fucking crazy? What about the one where Lew talks about …” And that’s fine. Please, by all means, leave your suggestions and links in the comments section. Ok, enough exposition. Here we go. For real.
