Hugely successful Dane Cook has struck a development deal with NBC to produce a sitcom. The half-hour project, set to roll out next Fall, according to Deadline, would star Cook and would be produced by his production outfit SuperFInger Entertainment. Potential plot details for the show aren’t available.
“I’m beyond aroused to be teaming up with NBC, home to a bevy of famously funny individuals throughout history,” Cook tells Laughspin. “I can’t tell you how damn thrilled my fans are today hearing this news. Who knew you could win an NBC development deal from a convenience store scratch ticket.”
The last time Cook appeared on a weekly television show, it was another one of his own projects, Tourgasm, which aired on HBO in 2006. The series followed him as well as comedians Robert Kelly, Gary Gulman and Jay Davis while on a national comedy tour. The comedian has also starred in a handful of motion pictures and will be next seen in Answers to Nothing (see video below) set for a Dec. 2 release — starring Barbara Hershey and Julie Benz — and Guns, Girls and Gambling with Gary Oldman and Christian Slater.
