So, what do execs do when when a new comedy series debuts as your network’s highest rated Fall show in the last 10 years and then follows up with a second episode that garners slightly lower numbers but still way more than was expected? Well, gosh darn it, you immediately order another 11 episodes.

That’s what Fox just announced about their early hit New Girl, which stars Zooey Deschanel as a young woman dealing with a breakup who decides to move in with three dudes.

“We love the charming Zooey Deschanel and the entire cast, we’re knocked out with the work that Liz Meriwether and the whole staff is doing and we are really psyched about the upcoming episodes in the pipeline,” says Kevin Reilly, President of Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company. “It’s great that audiences have responded so positively so far and we’re confident that even more people will embrace the show – and more comedy on FOX – this season.”

The next episode of New Girl will air Tues, Oct. 4 at 9 pm ET.

i truly loathe tv executives. they are all the same, well 98.6% of them at least. if you can enlarge their bank accounts then they pretend to love you. if you can’t do anything to help them get richer then you are dog poop as far as they are concerned. kevin reilly doesn’t give two shits about anyone working on that show. they are just pawns in his moronic mind. he only pretends to care b/c the numbers are higher than expected. if it would’ve gotten lower numbers than expected, then he would’ve fired them without second thought and would’ve pissed on them as they exited the building.
